Quest help / OLYMPUS 2249

Find Bonnie’s windmill control panel

Quick answer

Look for the locomotive in the Wharf area, near the Hall of Knowledge and infirmary. Bonnie wants its windmill control panel checked and repaired if needed.

Bonnie's windmill control panel is on a locomotive in the Wharf area. Use the Hall of Knowledge and infirmary as nearby landmarks. The task is to check the panel and repair it if necessary; searching only for “port grounds” makes the location harder to connect with the map.

The Gatherers settlement among rocky paths and industrial structures

The Gatherers settlement connects rocky paths and industrial structures. Named landmarks help you find the right area.

Where to look

The developer's answer connects three clues that appear in different places:

Where you read itUseful clue
Bonnie's dialogueA wind turbine control panel on a locomotive, beside the desalination plants and Hall of Knowledge.
Quest entryCheck the windmill panel near the Hall of Knowledge and infirmary; repair if necessary.
Quest hintThe locomotive is in the Wharf area.

These describe one destination. The area narrows the search; landmarks orient you within it; the locomotive identifies the object to approach. Do not expect a glowing route to connect them.

A practical search sequence

  1. Open the organizer and select Bonnie's task.
  2. Read the objective and any lightbulb hint attached to it.
  3. Locate Wharf on the map or match it to the settlement's named areas.
  4. Use the Hall of Knowledge and infirmary to orient yourself. The dialogue also mentions desalination plants.
  5. Find the locomotive and examine its windmill control panel.
  6. Read what the interaction asks of your character. Repair is required only if the panel needs it.

This prevents a common detour: finding a building named in conversation and assuming it contains the panel. Those buildings are landmarks. The locomotive is the destination.

Windmill or wind turbine?

Conversation and quest text use slightly different wording for the same objective. One says wind turbine; another says windmill. Keep the locomotive and nearby landmarks in mind rather than treating those words as two machines.

The same applies to “port grounds” and Wharf. If the term you remember differs from the hint's area name, reopen the quest entry instead of roaming farther away. The developer points to Wharf explicitly.

If you reach it but cannot finish

Finding the panel and completing the interaction are separate steps. Read the requirement at the object and check your non-combat specialization. Olympus 2249 puts practical checks in the world; a repair request is not necessarily finished with another conversation response.

Before searching a shop for a tool, make sure the interaction asks for it. Another character's requirements may differ. If the entry changes after examining the panel, read the updated objective before repeating the action.

For professions and solutions, see character creation and karma. If an opening route is the real obstacle, the prologue guide explains the sewer and gas-mask conditions.

When you lose track inside the settlement

Return to a named landmark rather than treating every industrial object as a candidate. From the Hall of Knowledge or infirmary, compare the local layout with the map and look for the locomotive. The important distinction is the object, not merely an area that looks like a repair yard.

If you have several active tasks, make sure you are reading Bonnie's entry. Another objective may mention a different machine or a similarly named place. Rechecking the active entry costs less time than searching another district on the strength of a remembered sentence.

Apply this method to the next quest

A conversation provides context, the entry condenses the task, and an optional hint supplies a location name. The map completes the picture. For another stalled objective, identify three things: the area, nearest named landmark and target object or person.

If a piece is missing, reread the organizer before searching a new district. The navigation diary explains that directions come from conversations rather than route markers. You can explore along the way, but distinguish collecting loot from progressing the objective. If you forget what Bonnie asked, return to the locomotive clue and resume from there.
